Welcome

Welcome to the homepage of the Cenacolo Community.

For those who are new to our ministry, the Cenacolo Community is a covenant community which was established in 1992 and is based in Malta. It is a transgenerational community made up of about 260 people from different walks of life: families with kids, teenagers, young adults, singles and young married couples. The reason we exist is summed up in our mission statement 'Sharing God's love and truth'. Through various Diakonia Groups, the Community outreaches to teens, youth, adults and young engaged couples preparing for marriage. It's main charism is with youth. The various ministries have their own sub teams, outreach meetings, programs and events yet form part of the same community which meets altogether to worship God and for spiritual formation twice a month. In this way we live the richness of our 'unity in diversity'. The community's Leadership Team and Council are also responsible for giving pastoral care, spiritual companionship and leading one of the numerous cenacolo small groups which every member belongs to. Advent - A New Experience by Helga Consiglio
14-12-2011

The Christmas period is a special time for children. By end of November, James (our 6year old) had already convinced us to decorate the house, and was super excited when they decorated his class at school. When I think of my own memories, they are somehow tainted by other unpleasant life events but I still cherish the sense of expectation, the joy and peace all around (although I’m not sure if it was real or perceived!).

Maria Deguara shares her experience in Ethiopia
14-11-2011

Nothing and no-one could have ever prepared me for the immensity of the experience that I have been through in Ethiopia. It has truly been one of the best things that has happened in my life! In the end of July, a group of other five people and I, all new to Ethiopia except for Manwel, left Malta on a five and a half week venture. I had wanted to do this experience for many years, and although this time round I had many fears, I decided to just do it, and of course today I do not regret it for a second.

Youth Arise on The Rock by Pierina Mercieca

Re-visiting Gibraltar for me meant seeing familiar faces from my first visit there with ACTS 09, attempting to see the monkeys and dolphins which I had missed the first time round and to listen to my friends’ caving adventure for yet another time. It is indeed amazing how much such a small territory of less than 7 km squared, has to offer to its visitors. However, the main aim of this pilgrimage was to Go and See what the widely acclaimed pre-World Youth Day conference, Youth Arise was all about. My expectations were over fulfilled and today I appreciate its usefulness in how it welcomes the pilgrim to embrace the Word of God emotionally, spiritually and also rationally speaking.

The Lord is My Shepherd - A Personal Reflection by Eleanor Grech

The Book of Psalms is one of my favourite books in the Bible. I enjoy praying with the Psalms and I am glad to say that I know quite a few of them by heart. The great thing about that is that they are there, at hand, all the time; and I can recite them in the secrecy of my heart anywhere and anytime.  The Psalms bring comfort to my heart because I can express any sort of emotion, request and petition that perfectly matches my heart’s prayer and desire, when I am in communion with God. Every time I read them I find myself there and I very much identify with most of them, most especially Psalm 51!

When the Going Gets Tough by Carmen Mangion
09-08-2011

It was about six years ago when during a community meeting Andrew spoke about the book of Job. It was one of those talks that, for many months, I kept referring to during my time of prayer; it was a talk that spoke to the depths of my heart. Little did I know that some months later, I had to witness disappointment, pain, sickness and the death of people very close to my heart.

Alpha Christmas Party
06-12-2011

Christmas is drawing near and Advent is a beautiful time to reach out to foreigners, especially those who are less fortunate than us.  With this in mind Alpha for Foreigners will be holding a Christmas Party next Sunday 11th December at the convent.  If last years’ event was anything to go by it should be a moving experience where people from diverse countries and backgrounds will share a meal, sing together, dance and get to know each other in a relaxed friendly atmosphere.

Homegroups November 2011
05-12-2011

The idea of meeting up in small groups in homes every now and again has become something members of the community look forward to to. As a matter of fact, the November meeting has once again been positively received by all the community members who attended their respective groups. It has undoubtedly been an opportunity to meet in prayer with people outside one's usual circle of friends, as well as an opportunity to strengthen relationships in an informal setting and a relaxed atmosphere.

Rebecca on Community Girls' Household
28-11-2011

One of the main reasons why I decided to do household was because a friend of mine really insisted that I should go. However, deep down I knew that it might be a good opportunity to get to know new people, reconnect with some others and spend some time with God.
